concrete was approached to ʻcreate a luxurious,
classic, sexy, chic, warm cocktail and dining
experienceʼ in a stately location in the centre of
Amsterdam. By combining this concept with the
already grand look of the building, concrete
developed an opulent, almost decadent, luxurious
experience, like a mansion. Because of the building
layout, concrete chose to create lots of different
environments. The Mansion is divided into a dozen
separate spaces all of which have been designed to
achieve a distinctly different look and feel.
This provides the guests with a choice of ʻroomsʼ -
they can go from one experience to another
depending on their moods. For the interior, concrete
reinterpreted classic elements in a modern way, using
new materials and modern techniques. Most evident
is the modern interpretation of classic cornices,
normally used to embellish doorways. At The Mansion
these ornaments return in doorways, walls, doors,
the bar, and even the furniture.
